What’s the deal with Red Velvet cake?

I’ve been asking myself this question for the past several years and haven’t come up with a good answer. I have tried it…once….and it didn’t strike me as anything I’d like to make. I’d have to say though it could have just been a bad sampling, the cake was dry, bland, unremarkable except for the awesome cream cheese frosting.

But…fans keep asking if I have a good recipe and I’ve finally had the chance to try it out. Care to see how it turned out? Stay tuned, it’s in the oven :D

Can’t wait! I’ve tried a couple red velvet recipes with little success. Does this mean there will be another video coming up soon?

  3. I don’t get folk’s fascination with red velvet cake either, maybe if yours turns out well I might try it…maybe.

    • lol, after making it I still don’t get it ;D But to each his own, it was very good but I’d rather have pina colada cake :D

      • I know people who do back flips for red velvet cake. The last time I tried it it turned my teeth red…not a pretty sight. All that red dye can’t be good for you either. Also, was doing some research yesterday and came across a recipe for green velvet cake…can I just say “ewwww”!! Who thought THAT was a good idea?

        • Both of my parents were born and raised in the South and neither of them liked it. I actually had never even heard of it until about 10 years ago, didn’t seem like something I wanted to try. lol, when I brought it up to my mother she said she HATED that cake, which explains why she never made and we never heard of it :D
lol-green cake…..festive yes, but cakes just should not be green….
